After more than three decades of the internet, we still have not been able to make it easy for people to own their own identity in this world. Somewhere, we have all lost the plot of the internet as an interconnected network of applications, services, and things. Everyone aims to make walled gardens and milk money from the prisoners. I am hopeful with the Fediverse, Mastodon, and IndieWeb initiatives. Let's see how the future unfolds.
